Jennifer Wier

turning our hearts toward the hope of eternity

Meteor Shower

Poetry

The world and its problems, try as they might
They cannot detract from Your majesty
You banish worry from my sight
Because it is not welcome in Your kingdom

Nor is it needed

For You hold the universe in the palm of Your hand
You command butterflies to show their wings
And stars to shine and fall
At the request of Your child

The midnight sky shimmers with flecks and swirls of light
As I stand in awe
Your creation is fearful indeed
With seemingly infinite oceans of sea and sky
Dark depths I tremble to imagine

But fear does not dwell here either
For You are Master of it all
As You sprinkle the sky with shooting stars by the handful
You command the light to dim behind treetop silhouettes and rise again

Birds of every kind announce the coming of dawn with great fanfare
Calling, laughing, soaring
Hummingbirds search for sweets and I search for You
I don’t need to look far
You play in secret hideouts
And walk right along the path
You delight me with little mysteries
Thrill me with the wonder of Your creation

You are my Rock and my Fortress
And You are my Joy
I will not be shaken
